The Arctic Chase of the Cursed Creature is a solo journaling Wretched & Alone™ RPG game played with a deck of full deck of cards (52), a 6-sided die, and a few tokens.

Having read the novel is not absolutely necessary in order to enjoy this Wretched & Alone™ scenario, but it will improve your immersion and thus your experience greatly! I recommend listening to Kenneth Branagh’s audiobook version of Mary Shelley’s ”Frankenstein“.

Feel free to listen to my Audio Journal to get an idea of what might be the outcome of this game. If you want to play the game yourself though, you should only listen for a few minutes as you might be spoiled or influenced by my interpretation of the prompts.

You can download a free preview version in a low resolution and with blurred pages. Please do not use the free community copies if you just want to have a demo!

In addition to the full game PDF you can also purchase the teaching guide PDF which provides you with a variety of ideas on how to use this game in the Advanced English Classroom (especially English as a Foreign Language classrooms). Although this game has not been designed for teaching purposes but for a real roleplaying audience,  being an English teacher, I  have thought about how the game can be adapted for classroom use.

The Arctic Chase of the Cursed Creature is inspired by authors like Edgar Allan Poe and H. P. Lovecraft and of course based on the gothic literary master piece “Frankenstein - the modern prometheus“ written by Mary Shelley and seeks to fill the pages of the pursuit which she decided to omit.
